Vacationing in Groups: The Only Way to Go
I had a lot riding on my vacation to Martha's Vineyard last week. Because I only have three weeks off this summer (try to feel bad for me. I'm used to having nine), this was the only vacation I had planned. If I didn't have fun, my summer was over with not even a pleasant memory.
Luckily, this wasn't the case. Although spending five days in a house with fourteen people total sounds like an episode of The Real World gone wrong, it was actually fantastic. Traveling with this many people allowed us not to care who else was on the island. We were a self contained group with enough entertaining personalities to sustain our own good time. The co-ed element was essential, especially when grilling food, playing board games, or discussing the ever-waging quest to find the perfect relationship.
In short, I highly recommend Real-Worlding it, even if you think you're too old. If you're married, go with a bunch of couples. If you're single, throw together a bunch of unattached folks whom you know can have a good time. Hilarity will ensue, I promise.
